How do you rate elements 4.0? I've been using elements 1.0 since it came out and I'm happy with it. :) I've downloaded 4.0 and obviously can see a lot of differance. For and Against. Is it worth the money to upgrade? Steve

If you are going from version 1 to version 4 - Definitely. If you are going from version 3 to 4 I decided not to. :)

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forums :)... great to see another UK user here :)
I agree with Mary... if you are using PSE1 and want to upgrade I would go straight to PSE4.
I upgraded from PSE3 to 4 and I am very pleased it. If you was using PSE3 then there would be a few considerations... But as you are using 1, I have no hestitation in recommending it to you.
If you have any questions just post and we will be happy to help.

Hi Steve ..
I much prefer a disk ... and the manual.
So my vote does for buying at a shop or from a reputable dealer online :)

Steve,
I bought PSE4 online from Adobe for £44. The manual that comes with the retail version is not worth the extra money (which is better spent on buying The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage) and I have copied the download file to cd. With PSE3 there were goodies on the cd that weren't included in the download version, but with PSE4 these are included.

I'm using 3.0 , which I down loaded from Adobe. At that time Adobe gave permission(programing wise) to copy program to cd. I would assume they would also allow the same for a 4.0 download. Perhaps the staff could answer that question.
I do intend to upgrade to 4.0 at some point in time, why? Because like most photographers I always want to have the latest gadget or program.

Jim,
Adobe recommends that you back up downloads purchased from the Adobe Store:
"Backing up your download
This first thing you should do after your product download completes is back up your downloaded product."
The Adode End User License Agreement also states:
"2.3. Backup Copy. You may make one backup copy of the Software, provided your backup copy is not installed or Used on any computer. You may not transfer the rights to a backup copy unless you transfer all rights in the Software as provided in the Transfer section in this Agreement."
Hope this helps
Mike
