Text orientation defaults to vertical, grrrrrrrr

i'm using pse 6, and all i want is for my text to go across the page in a normal horizontal line, yet every time i click on the text tool and start typing text, it reverts to a vertical setting instead of horizontal and i have to manually change it to horizontal EVERY TIME I USE IT. i can't see where to change it in the preferences, help, please, this is so frustrating!

Hi, try resetting the text tool.
The first icon in the optionsbar when the type tool is selected.
That might help.
Next on the list of fixes when things go weird is resetting the preferences.
Shut down Elements.
Then double click to start it again.
Quickly hold down Shift Ctrl Alt all three at the same time.
While Elements is starting you should get a pop-up that asks
if you want to reset the preferences .
Click yes.
This procedure fixes a lot of problems.

I had looked for that little reset tool before, didn't realize it was a little drop down - it's FIXED! thanks so much, this has driven me crazy for WEEKS. should have posted sooner.

Had exactly that problem in PSE 7, until I found out that the texttool has four settings - hold down on tht T - and I had choosen vertical tool instead of horizontal :p
