Question 1:

Do you have a tripod you use fairly often? (full size, not a mini one)

Question 2:

Is its max height shorter than you are?

Question 3:

Is this annoying? Do you wish it were taller?

Bonus Question:

Anyone have any experience/opinions of or with Flashpoint carbon fiber tripods (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=NewsDesk_Internal&article_num=110707-1)?

Extra Credit:

Can you tell this post was written by a teacher? ;)

Thanks,
Mike

You're all doing very well. Nice work. Except on the bonus question, though. No one's got that right, yet. :D

So far, it sounds like, for those for whom it is applicable to, you'd like a tripod that closer to your height rather than shorter...

The problem with those Flashpoint ones, aside from the money (let's just pretend that doesn't matter for a second) is the height. I think the max is 60 inches or so--a little more than a foot shorter than I am--and that's with the center column fully raised, too, I believe...

My measurement of 6'3" is with the center column raised full height.
Not raising the center column my tripod is 60 inches.

Question 1:

Do you have a tripod you use fairly often? Yes, Slik

Question 2:

Is its max height shorter than you are? Yes but I added a pistol grip head which brings up the height quite a bit.

Question 3:

Is this annoying? Do you wish it were taller? Sure, why not.

Bonus Question:

No, but Christmas is quickly approaching if you are considering getting me one.

Aw, Rob, now you went and wrecked the surprise. Guess I'll send it back...

Heheh, no don't send it back!
Things are moving along, I've sold a few photos on iStock & in fact I'll be submitting some more today. My business classes are all done & my Business plan is near completion so I should be heading to the bank sometime soon for a loan to get my studio set up. Some clients are starting to build up so a slow stream of customers have been giving me money:rolleyes: I think I'm going to stick with Business Photography (products, location & some construction progress), maybe a portrait or two if things don't pick up.
How have you been? Busy teaching?

I ordered a flashpoint from Adorama and it was flimsy with allot of flex in the joints so I sent it back. If you want a good carbon fiber tripod at an excellent price take a look at Feisol tripods www.reallybigcameras.com. (http://www.reallybigcameras.com.) I am 6'2 and was able to get a Feisol that was tall enough without stooping and also without raising the center post. Get the right height, you will never regret it. The more you raise the center post the less stability the tripod has which of course defeats the purpose of a tripod. Get a goodtripod the first time. They last forever.

Hey, thanks lowbone. I'd not heard of that brand before. I'll check 'em out!
