I imported files from an external USB drive where I keep all photos. Not enough room on the C drive. After it's done importing, all I can get are the thumbnails. There is a small red something at the top left of each thumbnail, I can't tell what it is.
Anyone have an idea why I can't import pictures into a catalog?
Thanks
Dan

Dan,
Does the "small red something" look like the Disc icon as shown on this Help page?

If so, that means PSE incorrectly thinks the external USB drive is "removable", like CD, DVD, or flash drive, rather than a hard drive like your C: drive. Further, PSE thinks that drive isn't currently connected to your computer.
1. Which version of PSE? XP or Vista?
2. When the red offline icon shows on the thumbnail, can you access the photo on the external drive via Windows Explorer?
3. Select one of the offline photos and then do Window > Properties to show the Properties pane. What is the precise path that shows up next to the yellow folder icon in the Properties pane? What is the drive letter assigned to the external USB drive?
