new project presets disabled?

Hi,
I create a new project, and when the project settings dialog that comes up, I am unable to click 'new preset.' It appears grayed out.
I'm using version 7. Any suggestions?

I suspect that the following is the cause of your finding.

After you open a New Project and decide to change the Preset via "Change Settings", you will end up with the Setup Dialog/Available Presets.

First, keep in mind there are usually limited modifications that you can make to certain of these presets with this "New Preset" option. You are not creating presets. You are modifying existing ones.

Bottom line is that you need to highlight/select a specific preset before the "New Preset" option becomes available, not the category for that specific preset.

This is an example of what I mean. If you just click on NTSC, the "New Preset" option is grayed out. If you just click on DV, the "New Preset" option is grayed out. It is when you click on either "Standard 48 kHz" or "Widescreen 48 kHz" that the "New Preset" option is available.

I do not mean to discourage creativity, but, to start and for best results, I suggest that you leave the project preset parameters as is. We can discuss this point further if necessary. But, for now, let us see if what I have suggested resolves your issue.
