I have been studying the Tutorial:
Create an Adobe Premiere Elements movie (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremiereElements/4.0/help.html?content=WS09e4b3c48f3a79fc19b622510385d4 355c-7d8e.html)
In section 11 it says: "Select an animation preset in the Text Animations area", but there are no presets. :( Why is that?

Michael,
As usual, first the questions
1. Is this the first time that you have looked at and/or ventured into this Text Animation feature of Premiere Elements 4? Have you gotten this to work for you in the past?
1 a. Have you been able to repeat this "no show" for Text Animations by opening a new project to see if you can get that to happen again?
2. Assuming that the answer to 1 and 1a is yes, then let us make sure that the Text Animations are installed (which they should have been during installation).
Program Files
Adobe
Premiere Elements 4
Presets
Text Animations, which should include:
a. Fades
b. Move In and Out
c. Pan and Zoom
d. Slide
e. Special Effect
f. Twist and Turn
If you do not find the Text Animations Folder in Presets, look around to see if it could have been relocated to another folder somehow.
Let me know how that all turns out, and we will advance from there.

I dl'd Premiere from Adobe. Is there an option to install just the presets or will I have to start from scratch?

Michael,
I have never used the download from Adobe route to purchase software, so I am not sure if you have an installation folder on your computer that might include the Text Animations folder. Since you purchased via download from Adobe, you may have to contact them to get this straightened out.
BUT, first let us explore the possibility that the Text Animations folder is on your computer, maybe got moved from the Presets folder somehow. If you do find it somewhere other than the Presets folder, then move it to the Preset folder.
I have Windows XP Professional, and this is the route I checked out that works:
Start Button of Computer
Search
Search Results Dialog which will ask "What do you want to search for?"
Where is says "All files and folders", type in "Text Animations". See if this route finds that folder for you, if not, best way is to contact Adobe.
UNLESS, after you did the download from Adobe, did you follow up by asking them for an installation disc, just in case? If so, then check out the installation disc.
Let me know what happens next.
