Hi, I have put my SCRAP stuff and ONLY scrap stuff in the organizer.
These files don't get changed; just applied and closed.

I am totally confused on how to get the files out and back into the organizer.
Do I have to export to the desktop, and apply, close and then delete the desktop file?

Do I just get the file from the folder without going to through the organizer?
When I close the file it will be back in place?
Can someone please tell me how to do this without messing up my tagging?

Thank you!

I'm trying to understand why you are trying to get the files back. Does this fit your workflow:

You have a scrapbook page in the editor. You go to the organizer to get the paper or embellishment and bring it to the editor. You play around awhile and decide you don't want the embellishment. You close it. That's it!

You don't have to save the embellishment unless you have changed it and want it to show in the organizer as another file.

Next time you open that original embellishment it will be exactly the same as when you first saved it.

Does this recap what you are doing?

The Organizer is like a library card catalog. It does not move your images or make copies of them. It simply records their location and takes a small thumbnail snap for reference. Do not move or delete the images outside of Organizer. If you delete them they are gone. Organizer does not make copies. If you move them Organizer will go looking where it thinks they are and not find them.

I usually import my into the folders where I want to keep them (I use broad category/Date folders). Then I import them into Organizer using File>Get Photos from files and folders. I seldom, if ever move files after that. When I do I do it from within Organizer.

Think about how you want to set up your files. It can be by date downloaded, designer, source website, category, etc. Don't worry about it too much. Just try to be consistent. All the more complicated stuff will happen in Organizer not folders.

After you put them in their place import them into organizer. Now you can apply all sorts of tags for designer, color, topic, etc. Search via tags when you want to use them. Then open directly with editor or use file>export to make a copy in a folder you designate. You can trash the folder when you are done. The original is still in its home folder.

Hi, Es and Karin Sue, I well........................:o:o:o
It's like Ummm... You know...you have to have the external HD ON
when you want to work work with the scrap files. Duh moment.

I have watched videos, bought the organizer book, read the forum etc, etc...
By the way none of these give detailed instructions on how to proceed, not detailed enough for (xxyzz) like me.

Thanks for your answers. I appreciate the hand holding and advice.
Makes me appreciate the existence of the forum and my good fortune of finding it.
Thanks again!
All good now.
The external is on a switch. It does not automatically start with the PC.
