Central California has been just a little behind everyone else the last two deliveries. I need to go to the mailbox now and see what surprise awaits me.

Got mine yesterday. Will read it once I get my decorations out of the attic. During commercials should work. They are usually long enough to draft a novel.

Over in another thread (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?p=423801#post423801), I posted a couple of messages regarding the newsletter and the postal system.
Probably more info than most people care about knowing, but I didn't want people to think that we didn't think about late delivery and other issues related to the newsletter.

Thanks Rick - I figure that if they've reached the UK then Canada can't be too far behind - mind you a card from next door just took a week to reach us - had to go a couple of hundred miles away to be sorted before it could be sent back and delivered. It was even posted two feet away from where we pick up our mail. Sometimes you wonder if automation has really made the world more efficient

Here in the US, competition has really helped get the US Postal Service up to snuff. I used to tremble in fear when a shipment from amazon.com was sent via USPS instead of UPS, but the gap has closed and both do an excellent job. One article I read today indicated that the improvement of the USPS operation had been one of the key factors that crowded out DHL, which is essentially abandoning its attempt to break into the package delivery market in the US.

Don't bother trying to convince my husband that the USPS is doing a good job. He is waiting - very impatiently - for some wood veneer that the tracking said would be delivered by 12/5 and still isn't here. I hope it gets here soon because he is buying more furniture to refinish in the meantime because he doesn't have anything to work on.

Well....I can't defend the USPS without reservation. A friend of mine inadvertently left her camera at her brother's home in Massachusetts, and he shipped it via Priority Mail back to Texas - It hasn't been seen since. Unfortunately, it had priceless photos of her 90-year-old father on the memory card that was still in the camera; fortunately, she had downloaded them on her brother's computer before she left.
Yes....still a ways to go for the old post office....

Well today the mail finally came through. I thought it was going Pony Express since I have been waiting and waiting for my newsletter. Now to sit down and see what's inside!
