Hi all,

What do most of you that shoot raw do to view your files? I do not use the organizer (PSE 5 and 7). The primary reason I currently shoot jpg is the ease of viewing my files so I know what to pitch and what to keep for further editing.

I have ACR in my elements 5 but when I choose open>file and view the thumbnails, the raw files do not show the photo like a jpg does.

Any suggestions?

You can get the FastStone Image Viewer (http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm). It will display either the embedded JPEG or the full size RAW file.

I second Juergen's recommendation: FastStone Image Viewer is a nice app for this purpose.

Perhaps you could shoot in RAW + Low Quality Jpeg, for review purposes.

Thanks all. Downloaded Faststone & it works great. Only had to associate Elements with "open with".

I use Lightroom.

Don't forget that any RAW file has to be processed by the s/w viewing it and the interpretation of the image can vary from program to program if this is done using the default values. These may all be different from a Jpegs thats processed in camera.

If you like the look of the Jpegs then why not stay with Jpegs. RAW images are really meant to be assessed and processed individually, in my opinion, otherwise there's little advantage in using them.
