Hi All,
I brought a new computer I made a DVD and I am trying to burn it and it is coming up that I need a Encoder activation. It tells me to copy the ID number and there is no number there. I am trying to work with Premiere 3. Is it because I still have it activated on my old computer so it won't let me us it on the new computer. Or is it that Premiere 3 is not Vista Compatible. If not is there a download I can use to update it..
Thanks for you help in advance..
Happy Thanksgiving

If you are using Premiere Elements 3, you should install the Premiere Elements 3.0.2 update:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3565
See how that goes, let me know, and we will work on this in more depth tomorrow, if necessary.

Hockeymom,
I will be away from the computer from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. So, I will be watching for your results any time after Sunday afternoon and when you get a chance to look at this issue again.
Hope that you are having a great Thanksgiving holiday and that the weather is cooperating wherever you are.

HI ATR,
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Thank You, today weather and traffic could of been much better than it was. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I checked out your Web sites that you posted. The one to download the 3.0.2 update is for a 32 bit. My computer is a 64 bit. When I was searching I could not find an update for the 64 bit.
When I copy and pasted the Premiere Serial number it did not take it(well it took it), but it didn't give me an unlock keycode.

None of the Premiere Elements are 64 bit compatible. What happens is that Premiere Elements hopefully runs in a "34 bit compatibility mode" on your "64 bit system".
Recently at the Premiere Elements User to User Forum at Adobe I got involved in whether this switch in compatibility mode is done via a dialog box or automatically.

I would definitely install the Premiere Elements 3.0.2 Update and see if that has any impact on your situation. Many reports indicate that Premiere Elements 3 or 3.0.2 cannot run on a 64 bit system, but....
By the way, you say that your computer is 64 bit. Do you mean that your computer has a 64 bit processor? If so, what operating system do you have, Windows XP or Vista, 64 bit or other?
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/64-Bit-Computing.html
Bottom line:
1. I do not have hands on experience with your issue, neither specifically Premiere Elements 3 or 64 bit processor and/or operating system. But, the above is the best I could piece together for now.
2. I would definitely try installing the Premiere Elements 3.0.2 Update from the link that I posted earlier and see if that has any impact on your situation.
3. Watch to see if any users here involved with 64 bit come forward with comments. If they do not, you could post your question over at the Premiere Elements User to User Forum at Adobe where there are probably more people involved with 64 bit. You could also call Adobe T/S, BUT you may be charged for any advice on this matter since Premiere Elements 3 is not the current version.
Let us try the easy way first and let me know if that is a go or no go.
As for Thanksgiving weekend, in the northeast USA the Sunday traffic was a disaster whipped up by a lot of traffic and bad weather. Going from one state to another at toll booths was an exercise in survival.
To be continued....

Hockeymom,
I made that same mistake back when I first tried to activate my program with the requested info. It does not want your serial number.
If I remember right, you have to go to Adobe and get your Adobe Premiere Elements Unlock Activation Key. It is not the same as your serial number.
When you do get your "key" be sure and save it just in case you need it in the future.
this is kind of long, but just take your time and follow:

Hockeymom and Tom,
One of the links that I posted way back in response #3 offers a how to video on all this. Its title is "Activating a Component in Premiere Elements 3.X" The link also has some written intro material.
Have you been there, done that, and it still is a no go? If you have, give Tom's link a link as a cross check to see if there was something that you missed in that link to video posted in response #3.
At this point I am not sure if you are dealing with the greater issue of Premiere Elements 3/64 bit compatibity or a problem in working out the details of the Activation process. You have two fundamental issues colliding.

ATR and Tom,
Thank you for your help in this. Best Buy had a great deal on the Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7. I got them both for $99.00 couldn't pass it up, I wanted them anyway so I picked them up today, and started to play around with it. I'm sure I will need help in the near future. I look forward to keeping in touch.
Thanks A million for your help, that is why I love this site.

You should do just great with your new software, Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7.
If you are a Sceneline View user, make sure that you do your homework on the details of the Project Presets that you use in Premiere Elements 7. There are two new ones there for AVCHD with and without 5.1 sound that can create some confusion when using the Sceneline.
I seldom, if ever, use the Sceneline View. I use the Timeline View where I feel you can see what is going on better and have more control.
Good luck.

Dear Friend:
I was reviewing a lot of posts here but I could not find the solution I need.
While I had Windows XP in my old computer I had not problems to activate MPEG encoder (MPG2). In that case, the software gives me the ID automatically to go to the website for encoder activation and I could import MPG2 files without problems.
Now, I have Windows Vista in my new computer. I installed Adobe Premier Elements 3 and the update 3.02 from their website.
When I try to import MPG2 files the software gives me a message and says: That format is not supported. Then I have not had chance to get the ID and then go to the website to activate the encoder. Doing the same with Windows XP, automatically when you try to import MPG2 the software gives me the ID for encoder activation.
Please, Do you know how can I solve this problem?
Thank you so much.
Juan

There may be other causes, but for now let us start with:
Do you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on the same Vista computer as your Premiere Elements 3.0.2?
I believe the latest Quicktime version is 7.6.

I am trying to use Premiere Elements 3.0.2 on my new Vista PC for the first time (just installed). I do already have Quicktime 7.6 installed. When I try to import video files from my My Video folder, an mpeg2 activation box is coming up. It asks me to copy the serial number, click on the link that takes me to the Adobe site, complete several fields, copy the unlock key, then come back and paste in. All works well until I try to paste the key into the designated field. The field doesn't respond - doesn't allow me to click into it to paste the code. Please help.

Check out the following link if you have not done so already.

Also, this activation is only available via Internet. So, one thought...what browser are you using? If it is not Internet Explorer and you have Internet Explorer installed on your computer, try the activation with Internet Explorer as your default browser just for the activation attempt.
Please update me on your progress.

Just checking to find out if any of the users who posted in this thread resolved their Premiere Elements 3.0.2 Activation issue.
