Ok I bought this program, 3.0, about a year ago and havent done anything with it. I cant remember if there was a manual with it, I purchased it with elements 5.0 in a bundle package. I have been using Microsoft digital imaging which did a ok job but I am looking forward to playing around in premier to make better videos. I was wondering what books you liked about this program. I have been looking around Amazon and cant decide which to get.

I am off this week from work and plan on spending all my time on the computer learning it, and reading the user tuts, as well as all the WONDERFUL information here. You guys, and gals :D ROCK!!

Premiere Elements 2 In A Snap, Steve's Tips at Muvipix.com as well as the video tutorials are all good. Premiere Elements hasn't changed much since version 2, even version 7 is still very much the same.

Steve Grisetti has written a new book for version 7 also, available at Muvipix, chuckengels.com and Amazon :)

Hi Glenda,

Although you did not spell it out, it sounds like you are thinking about using Photoshop Elements 5 integrated with Premiere Elements 3.

Right after you install Premiere Elements 3, make sure that you download and install the Premiere Elements Update 3.0.2. It was supposed to address Vista compatibility issues but it does have some additional perks.

As for learning tools…..

The book suggested in a prior post is often recommended as a starter and has gotten good reviews. As I have said in the past, Premiere Elements principles do remain the same from version to version, but the interface and feature locations often do not. So, it can be frustrating armed with principles going in search of features who locations you know from an earlier version. But, when in doubt, just post your question here. But, remember to give details. Generalizations just delay getting to the core of the matter.

My favorite place to start is the Help section of the program. There are online resources besides this web site, example, Premiere Elements User to User Forum with its Q/As and FAQs. Check out the Premiere Elements 3 FAQs:

The following is an assortment of Adobe TechNotes relating to Premiere Elements 3 that you might want to read, especially System Requirements (Windows XP or Vista??)

Let us start here and see where that leads us.
