Old Nikon FE

I have an old Nikon FE. Understand that the Nikon D40 only takes AF-S or AF-I lenses.? Where/ how can I find if this old Nikon FE has these lenses.
Anybody using a D 40 ?

I asked advice on a lens that was attached to a EM Nikon and was given this link which careful study showed that I could use the lens on my D70s but that the EM was not suited to Newer Lenses as they were DX lenses.
