drapeman, you do a nice job of changing a sky, however I think you go a little overboard with the massive clouds. That is, unless that's what you have in mind.
I think these clouds add depth to the scene and not over power it.
The colors blend better with the original photo.
You have some nice scenes, so why have the clouds distract from them.
Hope you don't mind.

I'm in agreement with Frank. Like the way Frank's are so natural looking.

I agree. I like yours better than mine!
I'll be on the lookout for some better cloud formations.

drapeman, do a "picture of blue sky and clouds" search or go to this link:

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=image&fr=yfp-t-501&va=blue+sky+clouds&sz=all

The clouds you choose should be in perspective and color to the scene they are to be used in. You can always lighten or darken them slightly.
Book mark this site for future reference.

Thanks Sepiana. I bookmarked yours as well. All I need to do now is to find more hours in the day!!

It's a beautiful picture, gorgeous colors, but the second picture jarred and looking at it closer it's easily seen that it's not natural. Cumulo-nimbus clouds like that wouldn't form that close to the ground. If they were distant such as the bases were below the horizon, then they wouldn't be so distinct. The kicker is the clear blue sky and the calm water. Obviously a clear, cool, dry, autumn day. NOT the kind of weather those kind of clouds will form. Those clouds are associated with either a front approaching or conditionally unstable air and in either case, the sky wouldn't look the way it does in the first photo.

Frank's clouds look more natural and that's understandable because they're fair-weather alto-cumulus, the type of cloud that you might see with stable, dry weather on the surface and just a bit of moisture in the mid-upper atmosphere evidenced by the slightly whitish tones rather than the deep, solid blue.

(I used to be in a job where I had to understand weather, perhaps these thing are more obvious to me than to others)

One suggestion that I would have in adding clouds w/ water below - would be to add another layer with the clouds - but flip it down to get some cloud reflections in the water. Just a thought.
