Dave Dahlberg has submitted this weeks Challenge I suspect there will be many interesting images on Dave's Radar.

For those that are interested in hardships drove out of a blizzard and into snow drifts the height of my car's hood to get home to post the Challenge. In between these two extreme weather conditions was relatively clear sailing. Such is the mystery of Canada's winter.

Since my hard disk failure I have had some wonder Challenges
suggestions submitted by a few people . I need more suggestions from more
people to be able to mix up the choices. Please send me *your*
suggestions for the Challenges. Part of what makes the Challenge great
is your input. Also please don't forget he Photo Challenge as
presently I have only one suggestion although it is a great one but I do
need more.

We only had a dusting in Dundas as well but ...down Lake Erie way it was blowing like crazy and night driving was very treacherous. Then just outside of Caledonia, on the back roads, there was considerable drifting for about 5 km.

My husband works in Mississauga and coming home tonight was an adventure. He passed through quite a few white outs. On a 'good' day the trip is 1.5 hours. He can pass through 3 different types of weather some times. The strange thing is, he really does like snow. Just not the white outs.

I've really enjoyed looking at the creativity of this one. Marylyn, I like your submission with the planet (Saturn?). What did you use for the rest of the picture? Was that done in PSE? It looks very nice.

This was my second attempt at one of these challenges. I was gifted with some unexpected time this afternoon, and had a couple hours to play around with the challenge image and a shot of my youngest son taken during a refreshment break at the zoo last summer. You have to look close--as the idea evolved, the amount of the original photo I used just kept getting smaller and smaller and smaller...

There is such a wide variety of creativity in this challenge and they are all so wonderfully done. Plus, I just love Jodi's image on the Challenge home page.

Wendy, believe it or not the explosion one was the easiest one!! It just fell into place no problem. I'm learning from you. It helps to try and get some theme going if you can. :D

Wendy,
Once again Thank you for taking the time to comment on the challenge entries. Its very generous of you to provide feedback for everyone, I'm sure like me they do appreciate it. I can't really remember how I got that explosion, I went back to my layered file but I must have only saved halfway thru and not at the end. The file doesn't have the explosion, I know I was following an explosion tutorial and was playing around with but can;t really remember what I did. That sky is from a picture I took from our deck one evening just as a storm was brewing. Here is the original

I loved your number 2 entry the colors and lighting made it quite brillant and your little angel ball was too cute. Thanks again.

Hi there ...

Thanks for info on how you both did your image ... I always find it interesting to know just how people have aceiveed the effect :)

My inspiration this week came from an image that was shown on the forum ... I can't remember now whose image it was but it was little two boys with blurred Christmas lights in the background. I was playing around with making a blurred light background and it just developed from there.

The Angel ball comes from a set of dragon wings I made for the mask competition ... they were originally green but I made a white set too :)

It's so inspiring looking at all those fantastic images!
I had a couple of ideas but never had the time to work them out.
Not least to me is admiration & awe at how the rest of you manage your time.
Sigh. Maybe next week...

Wendy,

Here is how I made the grass..:

Create a new layer and fill it with white.
Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise and use these settings Amount: 400%. Distribution: Gaussian. Monochromatic: Checked.
Apply 0.7 Gaussian Blur.
Add a new layer and fill it with green.
Set the blend mode of the green layer to Multiply.
Merge the two layers.
Go to Filter > Stylize > Wind and apply these settings Method: Stagger. Direction: From the left
Rotate the canvas by 90 deg to the right
Apply the Wind filter as above (Filter > Stylize > Wind - Method: Stagger, Direction From the Left).
Rotate the canvas 90 degrees to the left.http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1tG9mtb25U6bW12npdCUofslLJsXc6

Wendy,

I can't remember where I got it from, but the Challenge is the first time I used it. Actually for the Challenge I modified it slightly by only applying the wind filter once and rotating the canvas 90 deg left.
