Hi everyone. I use the Canon 30D camera and canon equipment. I have 5 batteries that I keep charged up and ready to go. Usually a battery will last me several shoots but lately after taking 50 pics or so they are gone. It happens to all of them so I don't think it is simply a bad battery. So, could my camera be somehow depleting these batteries? I shoot in the raw mode. Thanks for any help.

A couple of things:

Do you have camera sounds turned on? These can help use up batteries quicker.

Are you letting the batteries run fully down to empty before recharging each time? The thing with rechargeables is, if you only run them down half way or so, and then recharge them, after a while of doing this they will only hold that much of a charge.

Are you out in the cold a lot with them? Shooting in cooler temperatures can drain batteries quicker.

Don't leave them in the charger either. How old are they? After a few years rechargeables will need replacement.

I agree with Bruce, also check other features that you can adjust like how long the photo preview stays on, lens resetting (if applicable) preview brightness, lcd screen adjustments & so on.

**edit** When you decide to get new batteries also think about getting a battery grip, not only does it extend battery power (by having two batteries loaded) it adds a bit of a performance boost.
