organizer issues

Hi All,

I'm trying to view photos in the Organizer. Most are showing up fine but some are just a rectangle that looks like a photo thats torn in half. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it? Sometimes this happens to my entire folder (I then close Elements and reopen and this fixes it mostly) Other times it's just a few pics.

Which version of Elements? Are the photos with broken thumbnails raw files or JPEGs?

The first thing to try is select all photos and do Edit > Update Thumbnail. This will regenerate the thumbnails, and will take a while (roughly 5 to 10,000 thumbnails per hour).

If that doesn't fix the problem permanently, there are other solutions, depending on which version of Elements and whether you have raw files.

Sorry...I'm on PSE6 and the files are all RAW files.

I did as you suggested and the photos appeared. Problem solved.

PSE 6 has a serious problem handling raw files, and the problem may well come back. If it does, see this Adobe tech note for a permanent solution:
