Goofy Mac error

Alrighty... to all you wonderful Mac users who helped me and encouraged me with Marco my Mac - thank you! Especially to Ray for naming him. :)

I have PSE 3 up and running and was even able to make some edits, but then I go to save it and get a goofy error "Could not save because the file is locked. Use the 'Get Info' command in the Finder to unlock the file."

First, I saved it the way I always have and can't do it now.
Two, I never got an error like that in my PC so I'm not real sure what it even means.

Susan,

Could it be that the file comes from a CD, or is still on a CD? If so, copy it on your desktop before you work on it.

Get info command is Command - I (the Apple key with the letter I). Select the file with your mouse, then either :

- Press Command - I

With the mouse..
- Control - Click
or
- Right Click if you have a two button mouse

Then select Get Info.

You should see an option named Locked, with a check mark on it. Uncheck it.

Hi there ...

... whilst you are looking at that just check that the Ownership and Permisssions are set to Read and Write.

Its the last section in the pop up box .... check in details too:)

PS ... The Command key on the Mac is the key that has a little Apple on it !

Okay, I tried Ray's suggestion and when I do that the "Locked" box is not checked, but when I view the file in PSE it has a little padlock thing at the top left corner. What I did was copy it to a disk from my PC and then downloaded the files to my Mac and am viewing them from where I downloaded them to.

Wendy - where is the Ownership/Permission thing you are talking about? Is it a Mac set up thing or a PSE thing?

It did say just Read Only.
I haven't gone back to mess around with it in PSE yet, but I did make the change. Gotta go hang out with the inlaws now... :)
