Hi again

Could someone please solve this problem for me?

I'm using PE4 and shooting on an HV30.

Having shot some footage against a white background, I would now like to apply a matte to some of the clips. For example, occasionally I've left too much headroom at the top of the shot and I can see the hanging microphone. So I'd like to cover that part of the frame with a simple white matte but leave the rest untouched. It would also be good if I could feather the edges of the matte to blend it into the background - inevitabley the white of my background will not be quite the same as the white of the matte, so I'm thinking a blend will be better.

Any help much appreciated.:)

Many thanks

First, just how much of the frame shows those microphones at the top of the frame?

Depending on your answer, what about this? Apply the Crop Effect in Effects to the clip, cropping out just the top edge with the microphones. Apply. After that, go to Motion, and scale the image to the frame. That should avoid the color match problems and dealing with mattes.

If that does not suit your purposes, I will come up with a plan with a white color matte. Although, instead of a color matte from New Items, how about creating a Title which contains a white section derived using the Rectangle Tool of the Titler and its color palette?

To be continued.........
