I am having a bit of trouble manipulating the mouse when I make selections. I have heard about some kind of pad or something that is like using a pen or pencil.. Any idea what this is and any thought on how good or bad they are?
Thanks

You are talking about a "graphics tablet", and the most popular line is from Wacom. They come in different sizes, generally the bigger the more expensive, there is even a monitor/tablet combo that allows graphic artists to draw right on the screen. Most tablets come with both a pressure sensitive pen, and a mouse. Look into the "Bamboo" model from Wacom. Once you leran to use a tablet, you may never go back to using a mouse (for PSE).

I have a Wacom tablet (http://www.wacom.com/index2.cfm) and would not be without it. It is brilliant to use and a lot more natural than the mouse. There are different sizes but I have one of the smaller ones. I bought mine before the Bamboo came out.

I have a Bamboo and I love it. It does make things easier. The price is very reasonable too. I got the basic bamboo because a friend of mine got the other one that came with a mouse and was colored. If you look into them you will see what i'm talking about. A don't remember the name of the colored tablets, but they were a little more money and not really worth the extra cost as far as my friend was concerned. The basic Bamboo is really all you need.
