Reconnect missing files/ New Catalog

I used my EHD to restore "My Pictures" to where it was before I moved things around not knowing what I was doing. The search for missing files still can't find anything, so , I wondered can I just clean out/delete my Organizer and use "Get Photos"to start all over again with no missing files ?

If you do that you will lose all of your tags, collections/albums and creations. Some of you tags will be recovered if they have been written to file as keywords.

Rather than deleting everything from your Organizer you can just make a new catalog and import everything into that. Then you will have your old catalog there if you decide it is worth it to go back and try to reconnect everything.

Which version of PSE are you using? It can make a difference to the advice you will get.

It sounds like you restored your my pictures in order to get your catalog to work again but it didn't work. If you post the location (full path name) of one of the disconnected images as reported in properties in Organizer and its actual location as found using Windows maybe someone will have an idea as to why it didn't work.

Karin Sue, Thanks for your reply. I need to get my personal 'menu' put in, but I'm using PE5. I've only owned Photoshop for few months , so I'm a beginner in all aspects of this. I just got started tagging/catagory all my photos, so starting over isnt a big deal because I was going to change how I was doing it anyway. Sounds like leaving the orignal catalog and starting a new one might be the 'safe' way to go.
