The 'Old West" is a love of mine, so I took a picture from Bodie Ghost Town and added some things and took away some things to see what I could do. It all started learning a "Sky Clipping Mask" tutorial.

Tony, nice work indeed! I share your love of "The Old West." I'm also interested in a tut for the technique you used. Thanks in advance!

And just in case anyone doesn't recognise the name, the tutorial is by our very own Butch (Daviskw) who frequently posts on this forum!

Tony, thanks for the link. It came at the right moment. Last night I was working on an image that needed a sky replacement and I was going crazy. I'm sure this clipping mask technique will solve the problem.
Thanks are due to Bayla as well for bringing the name behind the tut to our attention.
Butch, if you see this, thanks for this technique. You just made my PSE experience much easier. I have a bunch of images -- taken before my purchase of a polarizer filter -- that could use some sky replacement. Fortunately, during my recent trip to the west, I took several photos of beautiful blue skies, with fluffy clouds, no pollution haze, which I can apply to those images.

nice try tony... but the brightness of the images is too bright... doesn't fit with the sky. the sky is bit cloudy, so place should not be that bright :) and also the color of the cloud doesnt fit also with the sky... the sky is blue... i hope you get my point ;):D

Julievive,
Your critique has got me confused to a point, so I guess its best said that " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder "
