Reconnect Missing Files/My Pictures

My photos in 'My Pictures" were so confusing I thought after reading and researching I would get them all in order. Well that was a big mistake so far, I search for all missing files until it shows me what it can't find and I can't seem to match up/find the right photo to reconnect it. Between edited, PSD,JPEG files its really got me confused and sometimes it seems I have found the right photo but the reconnect button is 'greyed out'. I tried to make "My Pictures" more organized because when I went in there to burn a CD it was too confusing . I'm not sure where to start now??

Can you put all the photos back where they were in My Pictures? That should reconnect them. Then you would move them in Photoshop Elements (not in Windows) to wherever you want.

Alternatively, if you have a recent backup, you can restore everything to where it was, and then move the photos to wherever you want (again, using PSE not Windows).

If you moved one photo to folder A, and another photo to folder B, and a third photo to folder C, you are going to have to re-connect them one by one, or move them back to their original folder one by one.

Never move photos in Windows (except to put them back in their original locations to reconnect them).

Thanks for the repsonse and I'll try to do what you've told me. I back-up all the time (after learning the hard way ). So if can get myself back to square one again thats a start !
