Back up catalog to Cd,DVD or hard drive
Today I am doing a incremental back up & during the process the orgaizer stops responding.I have tried numerous times, cleaned the disc, restated computer etc all to no avail. I don't know what to do.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly what do you see when the organizer stops responding? Where in the process does this happen?

It occurs after I insert the DVD ,click on the drive ,click on browse & done.It starts to do something for a short time then I get a window pop up telling me the program as stopped responding. The window gives me the option to go online to see if windows can diagnose the problem.I tried that option too. I get a page with the contents of the DVD etc. but can't do anything with that page(at least I don't know how)

Can other programs read files from a DVD? Can other programs burn files to a DVD?

After original post my browser worked the next day.. I have no idea why.But now yesterday I again tried to do an incremental back up & program stops responding again. This is so frustrating.

Well I am working with support online with Adobe. But so far no successful results. It takes them a day or more to answer a question. And then sometimes it is a generic answer & it isn't the question you asked! Oh well.I'll keep at it.
My new question is: I'm thinking of getting the new elements7.Will I have to resolve this issue first before installing the new program??Will I have the same problem in the new program if it is for example a catalog problem? Or will a new program fix it?

Upgrading to PSE 7 may resolve your problems (or it may not).
If you install PSE 7 on the same computer, you won't need to resolve the backup problem. After you install it, PSE 7 will ask to convert your old catalog (leaving the original untouched), and usually that conversion goes very smoothly.
You might download the free trial of 7 before spending money, to see if you have any problems with it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I really appreciate that:) That is an excellent suggestion First I will ask Adobe the same question.

Keep in mind that the quality of Adobe support is ragged (as you've already discovered) -- they not infrequently give out wrong or misleading answers, depending on who is handling your issue.
