Essentials for Elements is a very handy suite of plug-ins from onOne. It includes the Frame It, Make it Better, Enlarge It, and Cut it Out plug-ins, all slightly modified (in some cases) of very powerful Photoshop Plug-ins.
I find the Frame-It the most useful, adds decorative edges, borders and frames to your images, but the others may serve your needs as well.

And for the advanced user Essentials has the pen tool. Something that people have been wanting for a long time in Elements - it works pretty much like the pen tool in big brother Photoshop for making nice clean selections.

Make it better is a fast way to adjust dynamic range, color, and brightness and often does a better job than I could on my own. Advise loading and playing.

Can anyone comment on the cut it out function? Is it that much better than the selection tools or magic extractor in PSE?
Thanks,
Rich

Yes, the cut it out works really well, it's just a little tricky to get the hang of it.
Cut it out work by selecting the colors of your photo so the trick is to zoom in really really close...200% works best for me and only doing parts of the photo at a time. I would suggest viewing the videos at
http://www.ononesoftware.com/tutorials/tutorials_essentials.php
Scroll down to the section that deals with Elements. I have been playin with cut it out for a few weeks now, I loaded it but never really messed with it till now. It's neat.

Hi Derry,
I installed it in PE4 and PE7. Installs itself automatically. Shows up in the filter menu.

Derry:
Just install it normally, no extra tricks or buttons to work with. The OnOne will show up at the bottom of your filters menu. At least thats were mine is on xp.
Load your photo> duplicate it> with dup highlighted go to filter> scroll to bottom of filter list>OnOne.
A window opens with OnOne and go from there. Tip: lower left corner is a slider for opacity, turn it up 100%.
What I am doing is just selecting small parts of and image and just trying to get a good selection. (A female with long hair, or trees with a lot of branches.) I put a yellow layer under my duplicated layer and change the mode to composite.
Now.... I am not very good with this yet and I know others around here are but I will help to the best of my ability. Just HAVE FUN.
When finished with OnOne go to File> Apply and that will take to Elements automatically.
