I have recently updated computers and have had trouble with PSE 6 & Vista. Now, it seems I am unable to duplicate the image to create a background layer. Everything is gray. I have checked and the image mode is in RGB color. What else should I do?
Thanks!!!!:p

Hi
Other than a major program glitch the only other thing that usually turns menus grey is the 16 bit as opposed to 8 bit in the same menu area.

I have discovered that it only appears to do this when I am working with a RAW file. So far, I am not happy with Vista!!!

Shorty, I had the same problem and like Gary stated, it has to do with 16 bits. I suggest after opening your photo in Raw and making adjustments and then opening the photo in Editor, do the following. Image>Mode>8bit/channel. You then should be able to duplicate the background layer.
