Is there somewhere at the website an index to Adobe Photoshop Elements? I began subscribing soon after it started, and have a very thick file -- but it's hard to locate within that pile the technique I'm looking for at a given moment, even some I've used once?

Don, I'm not aware there's such a thing. However, if you click here (http://app.photoshopelementsuser.com/pastissues/), there's a list of the past issues one can purchase.. You can click on each one and see the table of contents. From there, you can copy and paste your own personal index. I know it's a tedious process, but that's what I did for the back issues I bought, all the way back to the premier issue.

I have thought about trying to put together something like this - would there be others interested too? If so what format - using excel? I'm open to starting this project and then posting it somewhere.

It's a magazine one subscribes to -- not free, but good. I don't readily find the place at this website to subscribe; maybe one of the regulars can direct you.

Bruce, that's a great idea! If you can get it started, some of us can chip in -- either from our back issues or, as Sepiana suggests, divvy up the task of going back to the online tables of content.

Hi Derry, welcome aboard!

You can build up your file/collection by purchasing the download of past issues here (http://app.photoshopelementsuser.com/pastissues/) in PDF format. You can download them at your leisure. You're entitled to dowload each issue 3 times (If I'm not wrong.)

here is a start of an index - any suggestions or changes before I get going too far?
To get the excel file go to site below and click on the Photoshop Elements Techniques Newsletter.xls. I believe it will automatically download (at least it does on Macs.

Hi Bruce,
I've just looked at your index file. I don't have Excel in my pc (just the viewer) and, shame on me, I don't know how to use Excel. But I thought of the following:

What about have the index divided in categories listed alphabetically? Ex.: Feature, Beginner's Workshop, Step by Step, etc. Then, inside each category, the pertinent articles.

I'm hoping this thread gets the attention of Rick, the new Editor-in-Chief. He has some neat ideas; he may be even considering such an index.

with excel you can click on the top of the columns and do what you wanted - just a problem for those that dont have excel.

Congrats on the joining.

AS far as the index of the magazine/newletter is concerned - I will update the file each day that I work on this. Again it can be found at
http://web.me.com/bwagner2/Site2/Welcome.html

That's a fantastic start. Small point: To get all the columns on one landscape standard page I had to narrow the margins to 0.5 and narrow the author column somewhat.
I'm sure this will be something others will find valuable!

"...I don't have Excel in my pc.." For those who do have or do not want to buy Excel there is Scalc part of the free OpenOffice suite:- http://www.openoffice.org/

Bruce,

Thank you again for the update. I appreciate you taking the time to do this.

One thing I just did, I put the cursor on Too much Flash (right below article title) then I went to Window>Freeze Panes. Now as I scroll down I will always see the top line that has article title/about/author/vol/no./type/page

I have "roughly" completed an index for all the magazines/newsletters for Elements Techniques. If you have changes that you would like me to make to it - let me know thru private message and I will make adjustments on the file.

It can still be found at

http://web.me.com/bwagner2/Site2/Welcome.html

Hope this will help people find articles in past issues. I know I was amazed at what I found going back thru all of them.

Bruce, that's a great piece of work. My next question is to the webmasters. Only people following this thread will be aware that this index exists. Can't we make it more readily accessible?

You can always put it in the helpful links subforum. Give it a really good title. Maybe see it it can be made a sticky?

It's on our (ever-growing) list of things to do, and is in the plan for the Web site redesign. I want a searchable index too - and the ability (as a subscriber) to download a PDF of any article we've done! Now wouldn't that be something? (That's a BIG job, so don't count on it right away - an index is much easier.) :-)

I think this is a cool thing, though! Nice work, Bruce!

best,
Rick

Bringing this back to the top - received the latest newsletter. Would people want me to update the file that is at my website - or with Rick posting it in the "Extras" in the "Subscriber" area - are people just downloading from there and adding in the new articles as they come out - on their own.

Bruce,

Personally, I would like to see you updating your file as I find it easier to find something. I just tried to find all articles relating to Camera Raw using the PDF file search option and it highlighted one article, whereas I just changed your Excel document to give me an alphabetical listing of the second field, and found what I was looking for right away.:)

It's the Christmas season - and I've had to put on my other hat - organist for our church and getting all the music lined up for Christmas Eve and Christmas day Masses. Plus I put on a "Songs of Christmas" on the Sunday between Christmas & New Years. (let alone working at the Post Office at this time of the year). Anyway.....

I've finally updated the index (excel version) to include volume 5 #6.

The updated index can again be found at
http://web.mac.com/bwagner2/Site2/Welcome.html

Just click on the index as before and it should download for you.
If you have any problems - let me know.

Merry Christmas everyone!
