Hi all...Can anyone explain how to divide a photo up using a grid layer?? I'm trying to divide a photo up into 9 equal parts.
Thanks:)

This is how I do it, but there might be a more exact way.

Go to Edit/Preferences/Grid. Enter 11% (=100% divided by 9) in the Gridline Every field. In the subdivisions field, enter 1. Next, make sure Grid is turned on in the View menu.

Alternatively, you could enter 33% with 3 subdivisions. This would make the rule of thirds intersections more obvious.

And I forgot to say that you would now have the guides for cutting each section and pasting on the new layer.

Thanks for the info. I have wanted to set the grid for rule of 3 for a long time but didn't know how.(I have to admit I didn't try either.)

Clearly I should have had more coffee before I answered, since my instructions led to 81 squares rather than 9!

Hi, the grid at 33.333... works great.
I prefer to make just one division.
That gives 9 pieces.
Another way is using a custom shape.
Load "Tiles" and there is a 9 piece grid in there .
Dave Cross uses it in a recent video (subscriber section of photoshopelements.com)
to cut a photo into individual pieces,
then make them slightly crooked.
Works good for a collage too.

Thanks so much for all your help. I'll let you all know how it turned out.
