Thanks for the good wishes! Celebrating here today, though many in Canada have their feast on Sunday. I'll try to save you all a piece of pumpkin pie...

So, Julie...what's the history behind your Thanksgiving? We have Plymouth Rock, native Americans.... what's Canadian Thanksgiving all about?
And is there a similar holiday in the UK? Australia?

Well, I should probably leave that to some actual Canadians to answer. :D But my short answer is that the Canadian holiday is sort of a generic harvest feast - it doesn't commemorate any particular historic event. A lot of the traditions are borrowed from the US, and for good reason. They make for a darn good celebration. :)

well, any holiday that involves roast turkey and pumpkin pie (except one with Kim baked in it) is OK by me!
