Elememts 5 How to merge two photos

Hi everyone. I am new to everything computer. On Elements 5 how would you take a photo of a letter and merge it to a photo of a person. I would like the letter to show thru the person. Detail instructions for Elements 5 beginner user. Would love to hear from you.

PollyAnnee, there will probably be other ways, but this is simple and straight forward.

1. Duplicate the person (Cont+J) PC, Cmd+J mac.
2. Open the letter on your desktop and select it, then drag (or copy & paste) it onto it's own layer over the person.
3. In the layers palette, drag the letter between the original and duplicate layers.
4. Adjust the size of the letter to your wishes.
5. Activate the person layer and lower the opacity so you see the letter coming through. Adjust the opacity to your liking.
