Some views overblown, some not...

I bring a photo from iPhoto into PSE6 to work on. In the process of editing I zoom in and out. Sometimes the images looks way over-sharpened/pixilated/blown halos and then I click again to zoom in or out and the image looks perfectly fine. What's up with that and is there something I can do about it?

Probably it's related to the percent zoom you're using. Every zoom level requires Elements to generate a different sized view on the fly to fit your screen. The most reliable ones are simple fractions of 100% (like 50%, 33.3%, 25% etc). Check those and see if they are the ones that look fine.
