Hi,

I like to check in when my head is spinning and I am trying too hard.......
This is what I started with

Here is applied levels and I was playing with the polarize filter but I am confusing myself... I'm not interested in the background as much as my daughter and grandaughter. I'd so love some advice!!!!

With some of the pics I have tried screen layer, levels and/or Graffi's shadows/highlights on a different layer. I see they all have different results and I guess I need to understand best method to apply to a picture. I tend to try too many things.

I like what you have done so far. For me, I'd figure out what size I want my picture to be. Say 4x6. Then I would resize the picture making your daughter and granddaughter bigger. So you wouldn't see the surrounding as much. Then I'd would try to lighten the pool water. Copy the layer, lighten the water to what you want. Then I used grant's layer mask to hide your daughter and granddaughter on this layer. You should see the one below it. On that layer, make the adjustments for them to make them pop.

Making them fill the size of the paper will bring them out too.

Others will probably have different and better ideas, but that is how I'd start out.

Michelle, here's one interpretation.
I don't think a person's image should fill the entire area of a photo. The size of this image looks comfortable in it's frame. Having some background gives an hint as to the location the photo was taken.
