I have just started editing photos the last couple months, so I am VERY novice at doing this but it has become my passion in that time and I AM determined to learn photoshop. This is one of the photos that I can show you as it does not show anyones faces.
Looking forward to critiques as that is how I will learn.
Thanks (hope this works)

Hi Judy,
this might not be what you want to hear :) but I just love the 'before' image.
In my humble amateur opinion: The lighting is great, and it looks like the couple are headed somewhere, ie maybe making their way back to the weddings cars. To me it tells a story.
Having said that, I do think you did a great job on the 'after' image and anybody would be pleased to have an image like that in their album.

You did a great job of cloning out the cars.
I think it ended up a bit too light. I took your after, duplicated the layer and set it to multiply. It's a personal preference. I tend to like my photos a little darker/more intense. Though sometimes I find that photos I like on screen print too dark.

thank you, I also like the darker side of the picture and thought this one was too light (made her hair too red) but I lightened the picture first (a little to much) and did not want to go back and start all over after I had done all the cloning. However, I will probably do just that anyway as someone sent me a differerent version of copying selections of a picture instead of using the clone tool and I want to try that on this picture.
Toni...I agree with you, and this was one of my favorite pictures at this wedding (I took over 400 pics)....but I also wanted to see it with all grass and trees behind it.
Thanks!!!

Judy, your photo is too light, too red and lacks depth of color.
All you had to do is duplicate the photo and change the mode to screen.
You can adjust the opacity to vary the amount you lighten the photo.
I used 100%. I than selected the bride's head, arm and shoulders and applied a little brightness/contrast which neutralized the skin tones a little. I also added a little contrast to the dress.
Learn more about the different tools you can use and how they can affect the problems you may want to correct.
Once you get your colors right, you can lighten or darken overall.

I think you did a wonderful job removing the cars..great work there.. I agree that it may be a bit to light...but still very good.
Like some of the other posters I like the feel of the original...It says together into the unknown.
In that theme I darkened even more...just for fun.

I love both the last two ways of editing (in the last two posts) As I said before I am VERY novice and just learning about all the different things I can do. I have printed out tons of information but for me it makes it so much clearer to me when I see the before and after results on a photo similar to ones I am trying to do. I had no idea I could select parts of the image and just edit them as Frank did on the brides head and shoulders. I love the way that came out and just tried it myself. Got more trying to do but it worked to a degree. Butch, I really liked your idea of darkening the entire background as well as it gives the picture a whole different look.
