I ventured out a little using a plug-in Photo Blast which gives a B/w porcelain image but I added back the color image plus a mask to get this effect. Do you think it is overdone? I sure would like some critique please

Vesta, nice effect.
My only note is that the woman's face is a little harsh.
You could tone her face down to better match the child before applying the affect.

Vesta, almost there.
A little work with the dodge tool to lighten the frown lines, eyes and eye brows.
What I did was to copy over the frown lines from the little girl. It would be nice if you could add a little of the pink blush to the mother around the frown lines. Needs a more careful hand than mine.
Otherwise, it's fine.

I really enjoyed the evolution of this image, Frank and Vesta. Love the original crop work, and Frank's suggestions to soften were great. Nice teamwork!

Vawitt thank you; it really was nice to work on it with Frank and see it evolve as you said. I would like to do the same image and make a watercolor out of it.

I added the blush to cover up the frown lines and I worked on her neck and this it the finished image My problem is knowing when to quit.

I didn't have any luck with the watercolor so decided on making it b/w but added a color tint and then a mask ...didn't do a lot of other stuff to it
