I pre-ordered my Tamron 70-200 F2.8 for Sony/Minolta from a reputable on line vendor but it is still back ordered. Has anybody seen one of these in real life yet?
The vendor has not charged my card and I can cancel, but it getting itchy for the lens.

I have one on order, as well. A couple of weeks ago, BH got a few and sent them to their pre-sale customers. I've seen a few pictures in another forum. If I am remembering correctly, I think the owners, generally, said that the autofocus was loud, maybe a little slow, but the glass was great. I, too, would love to get an idea of when they will ship.

Mine is on order from B&H I guess I lost the lottery :(. For the price I'm prepared to deal with a marginally slower and louder lens than the Sony/Minolta G series lens with the built in focus motor. I tried one of those out at a Sony store and could hardly contain my drool/lust for that piece of glass. But reality set in (as well as wife) so I'm holding out for the Tamron. By the way I just found out that Sony owns a part of Tamron. Maybe its the same glass without the motor....

I found one on Amazon yesterday and had it shipped overnight. To say the least, it is a very impressive hunk of glass. With the camera mounted it will not fit in my Tamrac Adventure 9 backpack. Its too dark to shoot so when I get home from work tomorrow I'll walk around the block and test it out in the cow pasture across from my house. My first impression is that the focus is just as fast as my old 70-300 Sony kit lens and just as quiet.
I took it out today for a test.
