View Full Version : Lens Ring needed

I did something really foolish this evening. I went out to take pictures and changed to the Telephoto conversion lens on my Canon S5 IS - well, the lens cap was on the camera when I took the lens ring off to put the adapter ring on and I (stupidly) left the ring on the lens cap.
Needless to say the ring fell off somewhere in my adventures. :( I went back and searched what I could remember of my steps, to no avail. I did manage to find numerous blue milk jug rings though, unfortunately they're not a substitute. LOL
Does anyone have any idea how much that little ring is going to cost? My guess is the shipping is probably going to be more than the ring! I am now leaving the lens adapter on the camera until I can get a replacement, which means the camera won't fit in my bag!
Tip of the day - Never, never leave the lens ring on the cap when you switch lenses.

I suspect shipping would be more than the ring, too. Maybe you could talk a local camera store into ordering a replacement when they order other stuff.

That's a great idea!

Linda,
I have read many of your posts here at the Village, and I have been really impressed with your ideas! Are you by chance a semi-pro photographer? :)

A new Creve Coeur camera is opening here in Edwardsville in a couple of weeks. I know you told me previously where you were located so it would be close for you. If you want I can let you know when they open. I'm certain they will be able to get it for you.

Thanks, but I went ahead and ordered it from Canon. Would you believe they wanted $14.95 for that plastic ring and another $6 to ship it ground! To top it off it's on back order until mid October, something tells a lot of people lose that ring!
You know what - go ahead and let me know when they open, I've been wanting to get one of those sling bags for my stuff anyway.:)
Thank you both for your suggestions and offers! I am always impressed by the kindness of everyone on this forum!

I will do that. It has said "coming soon" for a couple of months now but they are finally starting to stock the store.
For those out of the area this camera store is sort of the cadillac of camera stores in the midwest. I LOVE going there but can't leave without it costing me a lot of money.
