Hi..

I have been making slideshows for my daughters school for the past year with no problems. Now that school has started again, I can not make any. I do not get an error message at all, but the slideshow will not burn and when trying to close down the program I am advised that it is not responding and then it all closes, so i guess it's a mini crash of sorts.

I have backed up all older photos onto cd's and removed them from both photoshop and the hard drive. [went from over 10k to 3k photos now]

any suggestions ???? HELP , thanks, Liz

Liz,

I will try to see if I can figure out what changed from then til now.

First, last year what type of slideshow were you making with Photoshop Elements 5, VCD? Or, were you generating the .wmv version of the Photoshop Elements 5 slideshow, saving it to the hard drive, and then using a software such as Nero (Nero Vision application with DVD-VIDEO plugin) to generate the DVD-VIDEO for TV playback?

What are the pixels dimensions of your photos then til now, exceeds 1000 x 750 pixels??? How many photos are involved in each slideshow. The 10K (same as 10 KB) and 3K (same as 3 KB) both sound like a small file size. Are you using just photo, no video?

Have you optimized your computer? You could possibily have a lot of junk files that piled up in the course of all your projects and computer use? Ever try a free software called ccleaner for that? Check it out. Do you defragment your computer? Do you shutdown unnecessary programs running in the background? Have you moved files off the internal hard drive to an NTFS formatted external hard drive? I think that you said that you have started that approach.

Were there any new programs added to the computer then til now? Are you still using the same computer as last year? Check out how much installed and available RAM and free hard drive space that you have at the present time.

Review the above. If you think it appropriate, we could review the details of the slideshow making in Photoshop Elements 5 to make sure that, with the passage of time, you have not forgotten a step(s).

ATR,

Nothing on my computer or the mode and method of the slideshow has changed. I do not download pluggins onto this computer and have a tech guy come 1x year to give it a check up.. Anyway, I think the problem was that I had too many pictures on my computer 15,000 ++ which i have downloaded onto CD's and now am down to 2500 and the slideshow started to work again.. very strange..

thanks so much for your help. I am glad to have found this forum.. Liz
