I am hoping that this is probably a simple question to answer but it has me puzzled. I am wondering how to get my standard cursor back to do actions when working on edits.
For example: If I want to do a colorcast correction on the photo it tells me to click on something in the picture that is either white, grey or black with the eyedropper tool. Problem is, the eyedropper tool will not show up.It stays with whatever the last tool I selected is. Example crop tool, move tool etc.
Hope this explains what I am getting at.

Hello & welcome to the Vilage.
Make sure that you haven't got Caps Lock on. That usually is the problem with stubborn cursors!

No I don't have the caplocks on . That's what someone had mentioned before so I checked that already.

Have you tried resetting tools or preferences?

Yes I tried those options also but no luck. I'm still stuck with whatever tool I selected last . I can change tools ok but can't get the standard arrow cursor back so I can make selections on a picture if I wanted to do skin color corrections for example.

Hi ...
... and welcome to the Village :)
I'm not too sure what the problem is ... in your first message it seemed to be in c0nnection to the colour cast tool but a later one seemed to suggest that it was when you were trying to make a selection ??

What I was trying to do is give examples of things I would like to do with various pictures but am unable to . Just as an example,to do a color cast correction on a picture, you are to click with the colorcast eyedropper on something in the picture that is either white, grey or black. Only problem is the eyedropper won't come up.All that shows is whatever tool that was chosen last. Example:crop tool,or move tool etc.
Once again, what I would like to do is get back the standard arrow cursor which I can't seem to get back. This is the cursor that shows when the program starts and a picture is selected. The cursor is there when I use the organizer but when I change to fix it goes away and the tool cursor comes up.

Hi ...
With Elements your last tool stays selected until you choose another one .. there actually isn't a standard arrow cursor. Because of the most of us tend to "park" on a tool like the lasso ... that is about the closest to a standard cursor.
When you do Enhance>Adjust Colour>Correct Colour Cast then the eyedropper should appear automatically ... is it not doing that ??

I think I know what you may be doing. When you click on 'Correct Color Cast' a dialog box comes up telling you what to do (ie to click on something black, white or grey in the picture) At that stage, if you move anywhere in the picture you should have the eyedropper tool showing & you should click on the picture as per instructions....but you need to do this before clicking on OK in the dialog box. If you click on OK first the cursor just reverts to whatever tool you had open last.
