Hi, I recently got Adobe Photoshop 7. How do i open camera raw files in photoshop 7?

I installed adobe camera raw 4.5 and copied into file formats. when i try to open a raw file, i get an error saying 'camera raw plugin is not campatible with your version of photoshop'.

please could someone advise me how to open raw files in adobe photoshop 7.

You may have to use the Raw conversion software that comes with your camera. Photoshop 7 or Photoshop Elements 2 are not compatible with newer versions of Adobe Camera Raw. See this article, especially under the heading

Sgogula, an earlier version of ACR may be compatible with PS 7, check the Adobe Camera Raw web site. ACR 4.5, the latest version is only compatible with CS3 (I think) and Elements 5 & 6.

You didn't mention the camera model you have, and the problem you may experience is that your camera model may not be supported by the older versions of ACR that will work with PS 7.

Photoshop 7 only supports ACR 1.0:

That probably will not get you too far. You can't use the DNG converter either (see the article I mentioned in the earlier post).
