I'm confused. Are you having problems downloading the images from the SHDC card to the computer or can you do that but then can't open them? And are you shooting jpegs or RAW? Sounds like you might be shooting RAW and would need to update the Camera Raw plug-in I think to be able to open the RAW files. Did you read and follow the instructions on the Adobe site for installing the Camera Raw update?
If you are using Windows the download for 4.5 is here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3943
Scroll down the page and you'll find instructions for installing in PSE6

You need a card reader that can handle SDHC cards. The standard SD reader will not do it.

Hi there - thanks for youre replies
I am shooting in RAW and I am using a card reader that came with my SDHC card it just plugs into the USB Adobe opened to download them but it say that my files are corrupt or something to that effect I can howver open them with my Canon Photo Browser I have downloaded the update for camera RAW and I thought that I had followed the instrructions collectly but I will give it another shot My canon photo browser will coinvert them but as far as I can see only to TIF and I prefer to have them in RAW as it gives more flexibility Will give it another go and thankls for your replies - Elizabeth xx

If you have updated the Adobe Camera Raw and installed it correctly then it should show from the PSE Editor in Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw as the latest version you installed (and make sure there is only one). You should be able to do a File>Open, navigate to the raw files on your hard drive assuming you've put them there, and they will open. There have been some problems reported of Canon and Adobe downloading software interfering with each other and it could be that that's what you are running into when trying to upload the files to your computer. If that's the case you can always use Windows Explorer (if you are using Windows) to upload the files from the card to the computer without going through the Adobe Photo downloader or presumably the Canon software will also download to your computer.

I have the Canon XSi (450D) and I am able to open RAW files. I did install the updated Adobe RAW and removed the old RAW from PSE.

Oops, I bought the Rebel XTi 400D....
I was able to open RAW without the update. But I saw that the update would be beneficial if it read the camera profiles.
SO.....I downloaded the update. Set a system restore point just in case. Saved the old file....and copied the new one to the same file.....and tried to open Elements 6. It wouldn't even open except to the editor when I double clicked on the Camera Raw.8bi file in the program files itself!
So I reverted to the old files and also did a system restore. The old files are back in place. I can open the organizer and editor, but when I try to open a RAW file (CR2) I get the error that it is the wrong type of file. So now I cannot even open RAW files with the old setup!
I'm bummed! Got any answers?
