I was thinking the same thing at first. Then I decided to go with the individual photos as the originals. The deciding factor for me was the toddler child's dress. It would have been tough to start with a baby in front, and then....create her skirt.
(now watch, I'll have it backwards.):D

Well the two in the photo is the original.
i did a cut and paste on the skirt and then a bit of a blend where it looked pasted on.
the baby by himself was a bit harder since he wanted to have a glow around his head when i removed other things but managed.
