After trying to update elements 6 and having no luck i thought it would be best to uninstall and then reinstall to see if that would help but during uninstalling it stopped and ejected the disk and then giving me a list of error's it also did the same for the re-install can anyone help with this problem:confused:

Thanks Spoon's

Hi ...

... and welcome to the Village :)

It sounds like the whole thing has become corrupt and left behind some parts of it ... I'l pretty sure that there is some software that will remove what is left but I can't remember the name and I'm not at my own computer so I can't check.

Perhaps one of the others can remember ??

PS ... I live in the Midlands too.

After you drag the PSE application to the trash make a search for Photoshop elements, and delete anything that's found. Probably some items in the user folder.
The user folder is listed at the bottom of the HD. Open it and check in the Library Folder for any PSE items to trash.

Then re-install PSE.

Newer Adobe products should not be moved to the trash on a Mac to remove them. They have a dedicated uninstaller in the Utilities folder. It's also best to close all programs but especially browsers.

You could try repairing the disk permissions on the drive with Disk Utility. It may be a rights problem that's stopping a certain file from being removed.

Perhaps you have this info, if not, I hope this will help.:)

This Adobe TechNote (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403247) contains a number of possible causes of Mac installation problems. Also, step #5 gives steps for an uninstall on the Mac

If your having trouble trashing an item download the following freeware.
Will empty the most difficult items from the trash.

Frank can you tell me what you are using to make your screen shot? I have Snag it for PC but not one for my mac.

Jancy:

I take screen shots.

Cmd+Shift+3 will take a screen shot of the entire screen.

Cmd+Shift+4 will take a screen shot of any particular part of the screen you wish.
After entering Cmd+Shift+4 you can use your mouse to make a selection around the part you want the screen shot of.

When done they will be listed as picture 1.png, picture 2.png etc.

I haven't had any luck in opening these png files with Elements 2, so I open them with CS2.

I think someone just recently posted a way of opening a png file in Elements, it was within the last week.
Never kept track of it because I mostly work with CS2.

If I wish to add instructions to the screen shot I type the instructions on the screen shot and save it as jpeg to upload to pixectral.

I had a feeling you were going to tell me that! Thanks I thought maybe you were using something a little quicker. :) like a program like snagit-which I like a lot but it's not for Mac-yet! I have no problems opening png in elements 6 with my MAC.

Hi Jancy ...

Its really quick doing it this way and if you want to post it on Pixentral then you don't even need to open it in Elements (unless you want to resize it).

Jancy, macs come with an utility called grab, but I just use the keyboard shortcuts.

Jancy,

Another possibility is to use the App called Grab (Applications>Utilities). It can capture by Selection, Window, Screen and/or Timed.

Selection takes a picture of a part of the screen that you select.
Window takes a picture of a window you select.
Screen takes a picture of the entire screen.
Timed Screen lets you start a timer and activate part of the screen (such as a menu), and then takes a picture of the screen.

OOPs---just saw Linda's post.
