I have gotten this message since I installed PSE 5.0 on my new laptop, which has the Vista OS. I have uninstalled everything and made sure it was installed under my administrator account but that didn't help. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi, version 5 needs an Adobe patch to work on Vista.
Did you apply the patch?

See this thread.

Yes, I have installed the patch and still not solved. I've uninstalled everything...again, and made sure my antivirus software was disabled before installing both PSE5 and the patch. Also, I restarted between all the processes. I'm about to lose hope!

Never give up.

Take a look at this Adobe TechNote on the subject of Troubleshooting Photoshop Elements 5 Installation Problems and see if there is anything in it of interest:

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401365&sliceId=1

Also, what brand of laptop do you have: Dell, Sony, other? That may be significant. I will explain later if necessary.

Adobe Technical Service offers free installation troubleshooting over the phone, BUT my understanding is that it is just for the latest version which would be version 6 at this time. But, you could check it out.
