View Full Version : framed layer?

I start with a blank page - drag up a paper.

It says "framed layer".

If I try to add an element the curser has a black circle with a white cross in it.

The a pop up scale box appears to adjust the size with a slide.

Is there a setting to stop this?

Once it started it won't quite

I don't know where to go in the settings to adjust this path.

thank you

In PSE6 you need to drag down rather than drag up. Dragging up creates a 'smart object' - you get a frame layer which shows in the layers palette as an image with a little plus sign in the corner.

HERE (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38494&highlight=smart+object) is a thread that describes the problem you are having and also a bit about 'smart objects'.

I just came across THIS THREAD (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38889&highlight=jeff+perry) on smart objects and frame layers which you might find useful.

Ok, tell me if this is right. (please :o)

I have to drop my project into the bin.
Then drag up the next paper or element.
Then drag it down onto my project in the bin?

If I remember correctly, you can also right click on the layer and simplfy the layer to get rid of this issue.

Butterfly,

The other thing you can do is to open all your papers, pictures and elements in Tile or Cascade mode (Window>Images>Tile or Cascade) and then just drag each one onto your background and close the originals.

I have another question that fits in here. I open three pictures in editor. When I try to move one of the photos from the photobin into one of the in the workspace, I get the message...Could not complete your request because the file could not be found. I don't know why.

I tried doing this and it is good for papers - but for elements it keeps them on a framed paper.
