I Just Started Using A Mac, About A Month Ago. I Do A Lot Of Digital Scrapbooking. My Problem Is That Most Of The Scrapbooking Pics I Use Are Png Format, And Pse6 Is Saying That It Does Not Recognize This Format, Which I Can't Believe. Any And All Help Is Greatly Appreciated.

A quick way to open the png files in elements is to high light the name of the document and change the png to jpg. When prompted if you want to change it click yes.
I'm sure there are other ways, but I don't use them since I open the png documents with photoshop CS2.
Click the name of the document and hold for about a second, then unclick and click once more the name will be in a rectangular box which will allow you to change the extension.

Hi Linda ...

... and welcome to the Village :)

PSE6 should open them just fine ... is this every png file you have or just some that you got from one place.

Try this ..

Open up a new file File>New<File 500 pixels x 500 pixels RGB transparent background.

Now get the Rectangular Marquee and make a square section in the centre of the page (only cover part of the page not all of it)

Now fill that with any colour Edit>Fill Selection.

Then Save it. File>Save As ... choose png as the saving option.

Close the image ..

Then try to load the one you saved ... what happens ??

This may be of some help - I'm on a PC but I'm assuming this may work for a Mac as well. Go to Edit>File Association and make sure you have a check mark by Portable Network Graphics (PNG). Could be that your computer isn't set up to recognise the file type.

On the Mac just click on any png file (not from within Elements) and then hold down the Apple Key (Command Key) and Press I.

The info box will come up and part way down it says Open With ... make sure that says Adobe Photoshop Elements.
