I have been using Photoshop Album 2.0 to create slide shows of my pictures, but I am wanting to create VCD slideshows that my friends and family can view with their DVD and CD players. I am currently trying out Photoshop Element. I would like to create custom slide shows but I want to have the pictures appear with frames as in Photoshop Ablum. Why is there no option to use templates in Elemets or the ability to apply frames to the pictures. The option to use a set template exixt in the catalog creation module of Elements, why not in slideshow crtetion. :( Maybe I am missing something. Please advise.

You aren't missing anything... You can choose templates in creations such as wall calendars, photo album pages, cards, postcards - but not for slide shows or VCDs. :( Perhaps it's an item for the Wish List...
A workround is to apply the frame to the picture in Editor before you create the slide show...
Have you used VCD before? I wouldn't get your expectations up about seeing the pictures that you took time & trouble to get just right displayed in all their glory on your TV.
VCD is not comparable to DVD. In most cases the quality of VCD will be inferior to VHS video. What VCD gives you is a blurry image, which when watched on a decent size TV can be very disappointing.
If you want to create shows for family and friends I recommend that you either create a show in PE3 and save it as a wmv file for them to watch on their PC (the quality is excellent). Or, go that step further and go for creating dvds.
