Hi All,
Just got (ok a few weeks ago) my first dslr Canon 400, and Elements 6 so I am totally confused  by both.
One problem I have is I run MAC OSX. My photo's are stored in iphoto 7. Is it possible to transfer my photo's 1000+ taken with a compact and my new camera, or should I leave them in iPhoto an d just work with them in Elements?
One book says don't use Bridge if you have iPhoto (Missing manual Photoshop Elements 6 foe Mac).
Sorry to be so confused

Hi Howie ..
... and welcome to the Village :)
First thing is that Bridge is just a souped up FileBrowser and not an Organiser so if you decided to use Bridge then you will need to create a folder system on your hard drive to store your photographs in.
I use both ... I use iPhoto to store my photographs but use a folder system on my hard disk (which I access using Bridge) to store my layered images ... in my case these are things like Scrapbooking pages.
One thing to bear in mind is that you can actually use Bridge as a General Purpose Filebrowser to access and open all sorts of things on your computer. It should open up the item in an appropriate program so you can, for example, use it to find Video or written tutorials on your computer and it will open them in Quicktime etc.
If you need any help with your workflow then just ask :)

Welcome to the forum.
To get pics in iphoto to default to opening in PSE go to iphoto>preferences and in the edit drop down select PSE. You will have to bring edited photos into iphoto with iphoto's import feature to get them visible. After editing in PSE use file>save as to save them to a folder (make one on your desktop-mine's called to iphoto). I wait until have enough to bother with and then import and tag, burn to dvd and empty the folder to start over. If your hard drive gets too full there are directions in iphoto help to easily move the library to an external. I make liberal use of keywording, smart albums, and smart folders to keep track of the nearly 2,000 pics in my iphoto library. Others make multiple libraries. I use bridge just to browse my card reader and the small EHD I take into the field to download memory cards as I go.
