HI,

I had been using an iBook G4 and just purchased a MacBook Pro. The iBook was a Power PC and the MBP is an Intel Mac. I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything over from the iBook-worked great-even my apps came over.

Last night PSE4 worked great-though I have to say I wasn't using any filters or anything. Tonight, when I was using some artistic filters, the View Screen would hang up with about 20 small pictures of the item I would be working on. This would happen when I would make a change in the settings for the filter. I'm wondering if I should uninstall/reinstall, though I'm not sure that happens on my iMac. I know PSE4 was really designed for the Power Pc's and am also wondering if I'm going to have to upgrade to Elements 6. (groan-hubby's going to kill me! ;))

Has anyone else encountered this?

P.S. Just tried it on the iMac and did not have that problem, so maybe an uninstall/reinstall will do the trick.

I'm not sure but it sounds like the ability to view all open documents by pressing on the side of the mouse.
If your using Leopard you can turn it off by going to
System Preferences>Universal Access.
There you should find a way of turning it off.
I'm on Panther which doesn't have that capability and I don't remember exactly what you turn off, but if you go to Universal Access you should be able to spot what to turn off.
I had gotten this info from the Apple store.

Hi Frank,

I tried that, but did not see a setting for that. I did check Expose thinking it might have been that, but have tried it since that time and still had the same result. :(

Yes, I'm running Leopard=it has some nice features, though I really, really liked Tiger. If no one else has run into this maybe I could email Adobe. My software is not a year old yet so maybe I can get some kind of support. It's a shame cause I use it so much.

Thanks for your help and if you think of anything else, feel free to share. :)

Hi Eleanor

When I got my new MacPro I brought all the applications forward using a similar program and it did caused me some problems ... including ones with Elements :)

Just dump it in the trash and install it again ... that should fix it :)

PS ... Over time I kept getting small odd problems with other things and in the end I backed up everything to an external drive then reformatted the hard disk and just installed everything again with a clean install. Since then I have had no problems at all.

Hi Wendy,

Thanks. I will do that. Hopefully I have all the extra actions somewhere.:)

Hi Eleanor ..

If you can't find the actions then you will be able to take them out of your existing install of PSE4 ... but do remember to do it before you uninstall :)

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the tips. I uninstalled/reinstalled. So far, so good. Haven't had much chance to use it as we were away, but it seems good. Just got a new pup - raising her for the Seeing Eye (they supply guide dogs to the blind), so I will probably be absentee for a little longer. :(
