View Full Version : Adjusting Exposure Problem

I'm trying to use Dave Cross' Adjusting Exposure video. Things work well until I try to 'Open Recently edited Files.' In his video he goes back to the original raw image with all the controls. My screen just sits there. Nothing happens and I do not open any files with those directions. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using PSE6.

Thanks

It's not working for me either, in Elements 5 or 6. I am watching the video again and the only thing I can see is that Dave is using Vista, but that should not be a factor.

Guess we'll keep working on it!

Is he using Elements or CS3? I have both, have tried it in neither, but it might be that CS3 will do it and PSE won't. (Or he has something on a setting somewhere that you don't--Preferences, or something?) Just speculating. I have NO idea!:o

It will work if you save-as and rename the file. Then you can go back and re-open the original Raw file.

Dave obviously didn't do this in the video, so maybe someone else will respond.

Dave is using Elements 6.

I was able to use the re-open menu to open another RAW file, but I could not re-open the RAW file that was currently open in the Editor.

Until we hear from someone wiser, we can just rename the file, then re-open the Raw file.

Dave is using PSE6 on a Mac and I suspect that that's the problem - you can't do it quite the same way with Windows. I do that fairly regularly and what I do is make a duplicate of the first image (File>Duplicate), close the first file and then do an Open Recent and you'll get the image back in Camera Raw with the edits applied. From then on everything is the same. It would appear that Macs are clever enough to rename a second opening of the same file automatically while Windows isn't quite so smart so you have to help it by make a duplicate.

Tony's right. my mac renames a 2nd opening with the title and the word copy. Same goes for 3rd, 4th,etc. Just keeps adding another copy at the end.

Thanks everyone. I've got it working now with the work around.
