I have found a number of templates to download for making pages in photoshop. My problem is...I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with them! For instance, somebody offered a template for download on the scrapbook forum:
http://www.4shared.com/file/60527378/63 ... d=6089c989 (http://www.4shared.com/file/60527378/6393d134/Tuesday_Template_13__Christell__sm.html?dirPwdVeri fied=6089c989)

which looks like this when finished: http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/11eK...xwjM_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/11eK4OG7sBW22yGgAKUKwGncFxwjM_thumb.jpg)

But...once I download it, and it's all gray...how do I customize it? I'm happy to follow instructions if they have already been posted - but when I do a "search" for using a template , I'm not having any luck.

THanks for the help

I actually downloaded that template, but have not used it yet. There are different ways of "doing" templates, so it's not always as straightforward as you'd think. And different versions of PSE sometimes work different than others.

With version 5, if it is a layered template, I click onto the layer representing the portion I want to "fill," whether it be paper or a photo. I'll then drag the paper or photo onto the layout, then click CTRL+G, which GROUPS the new layer (photo or paper) with the layer below it (the "hole" into which it will fit). Then you can resize the photo to fit the space the way you want.

But there are other methods, so if this doesn't work for you, don't get frustrated. Post again, and someone will suggest another method.

With version 6, you may have to drag the photo (or paper) from the work space DOWN onto the thumbnail of the layout in the photo bin. I think that's what I have heard.

Another option for the template is the "Paste into Selection" option.

1) Open up a picture you want inside the "stamp".
2) Press Ctrl+A to select the piture.
3) Press Ctrl+C to copy the picture.
4) Then hold Ctrl and Click the "Stamp" Layer, to select the stamp layer and get marching ants around it.
5) Go to Edit>Paste Into Selection (or Shift+Ctrl+V). This will paste the copyed picture into the stamp.
6) Resize your picture to fit inside the stamp as you wish.

Follow the above for the other "grey" items.

Hope this helps.
