word frame

I found this tutorial a while back for photoshop to make a word frame. I messed around with it and figured out how to adapt it for PSE. For the life of me, I can't figure out how I did it. Now I am ready to make a card but I can't get it together. The tutorial is on a blog. The date is July 15, 2008. I know that it is something easy, because if I figured it out once, it couldn't have been difficult :)

Here's the correct link.

The instructions are at the bottom. The only thing you need to do differently is, after you create the text, choose "simplify layer" instead of "rasterize layer".

(Edit): Actually, I made one by using the rectangular marquee and filling it with 50% gray. Then added the text, also 50% gray, and merged the 2 layers to make a template that you could group with your photo.

This is a cute idea!

I think Tony helped someone with this one a few weeks ago but now I can't find the post. I think Val is correct that everything is easily done in Elements except the wording of that step.

Thanks. I have finally got it to work. The problem was that I needed to fill the rectangle. It looks great.
